Liebster Award

My friend Ech over at Ech and Will posted this list of questions for her Liebster Award nominees (AKA pretty much everyone who reads her blog because she’s so AWESOME!):

1. What’s your favorite way to celebrate good news?

I LOVE to celebrate with a Dairy Queen cookie dough blizzard. What’s even better is that everyone in my family knows that’s how I like to celebrate too. 🙂

2. What’s at the top of your wanderlust list?

Ireland is at the absolute extreme top. It is my heritage, it looks gorgeous, and I’m facinated with the Irish culture.

3. Recommend something. A book, movie, band. Anything.

I would HIGHLY recommend Jon Gordon’s “The Energy Bus”. It is by far the most motivating and influential books I have read in a very long time.

4. What was the last really great thing that happened in your life?

I just recently had my dissertation manuscript approved by my committee to move forward in the quality review process. Combine that with my husband being promoted, and those are both great things of recent history.
5. Surprise! It’s treat yo’self day! How do you treat yo’self?

This is a tough one…I would defer back to the DQ blizzard mentioned above and a nice quiet time to read a good book…or take a long bath with my husband (does that count since it’s not technically by myself?).
6. Can you whistle?

I “can” whistle, but I’m definitely not all amazing at it.
7. What is your most prized possession?

Yet another tough question. I would have to say my Thomas Kinkade painting “Coming Home”

8. Do you prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?

I totally prefer to be behind the camera if it’s for like still pictures (I HATE my smile), but if it’s a performance, I’m all about being in front of the camera.
9. Can you type properly? If yes, when/how did you learn? If not, how do you type? With two fingers?

I’m a pretty darn good typist if I do say so myself. I learned how to type in high school actually. I can type without looking at the keys and yes with both hands. Last time I timed myself, I was typing somewhere around 75 words per minute.
10. What was the last movie you watched? What did you think?

The last movie I watched in the theater was “Fury”. It was so incredibly powerful. Watching it with my husband was amazing and awful all at the same time. Amazing because we hadn’t been on a date to watch a movie in months, so that’s always a nice treat. Awful because it really triggered his memories of his Iraq deployment, the sounds of the casings hitting the floor and the bullets and mortars…this movie really made those things very vivid for him. All in all, it is a really good movie I would highly recommend; however, if you are someone who has served our country in a time of war or will be watching it with someone who has, I would just say to be prepared for a long night.

11. Tell us something about yourself that not a lot of people know.

Hmmmm…not a lot of people know that I was Miss TEEN Illinois in 1992. So I guess that’s a little something for ya.

  1. DQ Blizzards are the best! There was a DQ right next to my high school and my soccer coach would give me the disappointed face every time I walked into practice with an Oreo Blizzard and fries. Congrats on your dissertation! That’s exciting!
