I realize it has been a while since I’ve posted, but I really do have a good excuse…I promise!
I started my doctoral journey about 3 weeks ago now (wow…can’t believe it has been that long!), and besides it being a definite change in my routine, it hasn’t been too bad. I can handle the classwork. The dissertation stuff is an entirely different animal. I still don’t have my topic for that completely settled, but from what I understand, I am still early in the process. At least I have been able to get a better focus on the direction I’m going, so for that I am thankful. I am also headed out to Phoenix later on this summer for the first of my 2 required residency classes. I will be there for a week, and I get to take my husband and baby with me too, so it will turn into a mini-vacation at the same time!
Speaking of vacations: our summer vacation plans have officially changed! We were planning to go to my husband’s college graduation from his master’s program. It would have been 3 days in the car with all the kids, about 4 days there, and 3 days back again. After some recent very fortunate financial things, we are now going on a 4 day cruise with the kids instead! I’m excited, the kids are excited, and I can’t wait!!
Other than that, we are now less than 3 weeks from prom, and once that headache is over, life should slow down a little. Add to that we have 4 weeks left in the flag football season, and then I can breathe. This season has been full of frustration, disappointment, and flat out lies, and I truly don’t think we will ever play for or with this particular organization again. We will probably find another group to take our team to, but that’s another story.
On the career front, I received an email from another high school in my district. No offers yet, but at least I know there will be an opening there. This is considered to be the “best” high school in my district, so even though I would be giving up department chair to get there, it will be worth it. Not to mention it is less than 3 miles from my house!!! Oh the savings in gas alone will make it worth it!
That’s about it so far. Maybe the next post won’t take me as long…maybe.
